Laser light targets chromophores (like melanin, hemoglobin, or water) in the skin via selective photothermolysis. The laser delivers energy that is absorbed by the target, generating heat that destroys unwanted tissue without damaging the surrounding areas.

Different wavelengths penetrate the skin to different depths and are absorbed by specific chromophores. For example:

  • 755nm Alexandrite: Absorbed by melanin, good for light skin and hair.
  • 808nm Diode: Balanced penetration and absorption, suitable for most skin types.
  • 1064nm Nd:YAG: Less melanin absorption, deeper penetration— ideal for darker skin and vascular lesions.
  • Burnt laser bars
  • Faulty TEC or water cooling system
  • Weak energy output (degraded optical fiber or crystal)
  • Screen or software boot errors
  • Water leaks or pump failure
